SecretCityGo.com on hiatus

I'm sorry, but SecretCityGo.com is on hiatus. I just don't have the free time to keep it going.

This Web site may come back again, possibly with a new administrator, or it may never be revived. I don't know yet, but I will try to let you know as soon as I do.

Thanks for visiting.

Re: No posts in last two days

Sorry I haven't added any content the last two days, but I've been busy.

I will add some events this morning.

'Small World' exhibit at AMSE ends Aug. 9

There are just a few more days left to see the 2008 Nikon Small World exhibition at the American Museum of Science and Energy.

The exhibit ends Aug. 9.

Here is information from AMSE:

What do images of marine diatoms, carbon nanotubes, Lily of the Valley, muticellular slugs, and Japanese specialty paper fibers have in common? They are the top five images of 20 award winning photomicrographs comprising the 2008 Nikon Small World exhibition opening June 5 through August 9 at the American Museum of Science and Energy in Oak Ridge.

No bluegrass at Flatwater on Thursdays

I've been posting that Flatwater Grill has had bluegrass musicians play there on Thursday evenings. However, I learned last week that Flatwater is no longer doing that.

They do still have jazz on Tuesday evenings, though.

Wonderful Wednesdays at Children's Museum

Looks like Wonderful Wednesdays continues this month at the Children's Museum. Here's the link: http://www.childrensmuseumofoakridge.org/exhibits-index.html

Once you get to the site, though, you've got to click on Events in the top navigation bar.

Power knocked out during site update

I was in the middle of updating this site at about 2 a.m. this morning (Thursday morning) when the power was knocked out by a big tree that fell on utility lines down the street. A city electrical worker told me there were scattered outages because of the storm(s) that blew through late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning.

This is one of those times when it would be nice to have a wireless connection at home that is not susceptible to power outages.

Blue Moon Rising in Oak Ridge for Secret City Sounds

Blue Moon Rising played at Oak Ridge on Friday, July 10, as part of the Secret City Sounds series

Here's a picture of bluegrass group Blue Moon Rising performing at A.K. Bissell Park on Friday. It was the third in the "Secret City Sounds" concert series presented by the Arts Council of Oak Ridge and sponsored by the city of Oak Ridge.

Sorry for site problems

I apologize that my site was off-line yesterday.

If you visited, you probably got an "Access Denied" message. That was my fault. I was adjusting the permissions for various users early Monday morning, and I obviously made some incorrect choices.

Unfortunately, I didn't discover the problem until early this morning (Tuesday morning). Chalk it up as one of the joys of learning Web site administration.

I've now returned the permissions back to their previous state and all should be well.

Band music but less rock in Oak Ridge this weekend

There will be less rock and pop music in Oak Ridge this weekend. But I guess this gives you the opportunity to go enjoy the fireworks on Saturday, July 4.

Brewski's Sports Bar in Grove Center usually has a band every other Saturday but will not have one this Saturday.

Moondollars Cafe and Bistro in Jackson Square also will not have music on Saturday.

Still, there is some music in Oak Ridge this weekend. The Oak Ridge Community Band will perform its 65th Independence Day concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at A.K. Bissell Park. That show is free.
